Rides
Horse trail rides are being offered on our beautiful
Blue Ridge mountain
trails and bridle paths (even with a Grandfather view)
and kilted staff will be on hand to meet your North
Carolina horseback riding
needs. Natural horsemanship practices promote
fundamental understanding between horses and riders. |
A horse trail
ride down our one lane Blue Ridge Mountain road allows you to see
the beauty of our Highlands on horseback. Choose from
our selection of horse trail ride experiences:
- 30
Minute Pleasure Ride: for children ages 7-10,
inexperienced riders, or folks with less time to
spend riding.

Highland Trail Ride: 1 hour guided walking ride; for
adults and children 10 and older.

Pony
Rides
We offer hand-led pony rides for children ages 2 years
to 6 years. Our experienced staff provides a safe, fun
and memorable riding experience for the younger rider.

Birthday
Parties
Celebrate your child's birthday on horseback! Enjoy
up to 3 hours of canopy space for your birthday party in
our glen. Includes 2 ponies for 30 minutes of rides for
10-15 children, group hayride, petting time with our
mascot, Huckleberry, the miniature donkey. Also includes
games of pin the tail on the donkey and horseshoes, if
desired. You provide the food and decorations.
And don't worry about the weather - we have an indoor
ring in case of rain! |
Lessons
Qualified instructors offer dressage, English and
Western horseback riding lessons for the beginning to advanced
rider. Horseback riding lessons include grooming, tacking and care of
horse. Brush up on your riding skills with a lesson or
sign up for a lesson program.
We are proud to be home to the Appalachian State Equestrian team. Two members of the Western team, Ashley Buchanan and Danielle Hagerman qualified to ride in the regional semi-finals and Ashley is going on to ride in the finals in May.
30 minutes of riding and games on horseback. Rain or
shine - indoors or outdoors. Qualified staff members
combine fun with learning. Kids and adults enjoy this
unique riding experience. May be 1 person or several.
Great for children too young for trail rides with or
without adults (children 7 and older). |
Rainy Day Activities
We have an indoor ring and plenty of horseback riding activities, so no one
will be disappointed because of rain. |
